Philipp Hagemann

Philipp Hagemann was born in Hamburg in 1975 and received his first music lessons at the age of seven. In 1987 he was awarded a scholarship by the "Schleswig-Holstein State Music Council".

Since 1996 he has been studying at the Würzburg University of Music. In 2001 he completed his "Diplom" (Bachelor of Arts), and currently he is doing the "Meisterklasse" course (Master of Arts) with Prof. Joerg Metzger.

Philipp Hagemann attended masterclasses held by Tilmann Wick, Xenia Jankovic, Christoph Richter, Raphael Wallfisch, Klaus Heitz, Eduard Brunner, and the VOCES-quartet. He also is the winner of several German "Jugend Musiziert" (engl. Young Musicians) competitions.

Philipp Hagemann was the principal cellist of the "State Youth Orchestra Schleswig-Holstein", the Würzburg "Camerata", the "German-Scandinavian Philharmonic Orchestra", and the "Würzburg University Orchestra".

Since 2002 he is principal cellist at the "Neue Philharmonie Frankfurt". Besides his activities in several German professional orchestras he is the head of music at the Martin-Luther-Kirche (church) in Würzburg.
